Hi there!!! I am a Dayton area wedding photographer and my goal this year is to share tips to help you be more prepared for your wedding day! This year has already been full of weddings! I love it! I have had the privilege of shooting weddings in Dayton, Lebanon, Troy, Lima, Centerville, and Columbus. It has been so much fun traveling around and shooting at new venues as well as a couple familiar ones. So would you like to hear some things that I’ve realized the last few months could help you?
Yeah? Awesome!!! ok, so read on 🙂
I have noticed some brides and grooms aren’t always prepared for their wedding photographers like they could be. It’s cool if you are one of those unprepared peeps, I will totally go with the flow on your wedding day and I will even help guide you if that’s what you need. But I have been thinking I could give you a few tips to be a little more prepared….what do you think?
1. Stationary Suite: You have spent time and money designing this for your wedding guests. It is a part of your day. So, there are a couple ways to handle this. Option 1, mail me an invitation! I will take it and put it in your file and keep it safe until I bring it to your wedding. Simple enough, right? Option 2, take an extra invitation suite and stash it in a safe place until your wedding day. Be sure to put it with all the other details your photographer will want to photograph.
Oh, and don’t forget to have a program set aside for your photographer too! I consider it another element of your stationary suite.
2. Bridal party gifts. Did you buy something special for your groomsmen? I want to see it!! I want to take photos of it. Make sure they are available and point them out!!
At a wedding a couple weeks ago, I was second shooting for Jodee Ball Photography. I was in charge of getting the groom and groomsmen details and getting ready photos. The groom had these awesome boxes filled with an engraved pocket knife, a bottle of fireball, and a special wallet which held a $2 bill. It was perfectly unique and fun.
3. Accessories. We want to see them!!!! What accessories? Here’s some ideas:
Jewelry like ear rings, watches, bracelets, cuff links, necklaces, rings, and any others that I may have missed. Oh, a tie clip if you are wearing one, or a pocket square. Get the idea??
Perfume or cologne bottle.
Shoes. Special socks.
Am I missing anything? Probably.
Your something blue? Do people still do that? Hmm.
All these elements add to your day. They help tell your story. And that is why you have a photographer….they are there to capture YOUR day and tell your story. So, go ahead!!! Take a few minutes before your wedding day and get these together. Trust me… your photographer will be so impressed!!!
